James Truher has been a professional musician since 1982, and has a degree in Vocal Performance as well as Masters of Arts in Musicology study from California State University at Los Angeles. Mr. Truher currently studies conducting with Christophe Chagnard and has studied with Roger Wagner, William Hatcher, Sergio Siminovich and specializes in music from the Medieval to Baroque periods. In 1983 James made his conducting debut with the Pasadena Chorale and Orchestra with his orchestration of 'Rejoice in the Lamb' by Benjamin Britten. He has also been guest conductor for I Cantori, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and the South Valley Symphony. In 1995, he was named the Music Director/Conductor of the South Valley Chorale, a community chorus which performed throughout the South Santa Clara Valley. In 1997 he founded the trio Ensemble Elysium with Mark Bruce and Brad Osness and performed in many locations throughout the San Francisco bay area. James was selected as the interim Music Director of the South Valley Symphony for the 1999 concert season and has been the conductor of the Microsoft Orchestra since 2003. As a singer and soloist, James has studied with Donald Brinegar, Mona Paulee and Andrea von Ramm and has sung for LaNoue Davenport, Krzysztof Penderecki, Michael Tilson Thomas and many others. As an active studio singer he has made recordings with Michael Jackson, Mike Curb and John Williams and has been a featured soloist with the Early Music Ensemble of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and I Cantori, performing on National Public Radio and KFAC. As a recorder soloist, James has performed with Edward Cansino, Lou Robbins, Bella Musica in Berkeley and the South Valley Symphony. |
